Medical Lab Assistant
MLA stands for Medical Laboratory Assistant. An MLA is a healthcare professional who works in a laboratory and provides support to medical laboratory technologists (MLTs) and other laboratory staff. MLAs perform a variety of routine laboratory procedures and may also be responsible for maintaining laboratory equipment, preparing reagents, and cleaning laboratory instruments and workspaces.

The duties of a Medical Laboratory Assistant may include:

Collecting and processing patient specimens, such as blood, urine, and tissue samples.

Preparing and labeling specimens for laboratory testing.

Operating and maintaining laboratory equipment, such as centrifuges, microscopes, and pipettes.

Cleaning and disinfecting laboratory instruments and workspaces.

Preparing reagents and solutions for laboratory testing.

Performing basic laboratory tests, such as blood counts and urinalysis.

Recording and maintaining accurate laboratory records.

Participating in quality control and quality assurance programs.
Qualifications:
Certificated Medical lab Assistant (CMLA)
